A U.S. Navy veteran, my last 15.5 years I had worked in child care, first inspecting child care homes for the state  and then working as compliance coordinator for a child care provider. I loved working around children, and they would yell “Mr. Dave!” when they saw me.

I have visited dozens of countries. and tried to learn as much as I could about each country we visited, to ensure I didn’t unwittingly violate local customs. Also, we have hosted English language students in our home; the students came from Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Japan, Korea, China, Vietnam and Gabon. Married since 1985, we have two children and five wonderful grandchildren.
